Happy New Year! It was great to see all the staff and students back at school eager to continue learning!
To start the year, the students will be setting personal goals in the following areas: Healthy Living (Physical Activity & Healthy Eating), Social/Emotional (Feeling Good) and Learning Goals. Please talk to your children about some of the goals they may want to set for this year.
As well, Mr. Young and Mrs. Bourdon will be preparing our Gr. 4 students for the Foundation Skills Assessment (FSA) which will be written in February. FSA is an annual province-wide assessment of British Columbia students’ academic skills, and provides a snapshot of how well BC students are learning foundation skills in Reading Comprehension, Writing, and Numeracy.
To enjoy the snow, many of our students (Div. 2 to 5) are looking forward to going cross-country skiing next week. It is sure to be fun.
In terms of the facilities, the library and the Maker Space are undergoing transformations to make the spaces more student-centred, technology-infused and hands-on.
The Boys and Girls Club that runs after school sports and arts/crafts sessions is restarting next week. It’s on Mon and Tue between 3:30 to 4:30 and is open to Gr. 3 to 6 students. As well, the VCE Strings will be meeting Thursday mornings at 7:50 am.
Our annual Talent Show will be held on Jan 25th at 1pm. Families are welcome to join us for the show. All performers should get ready for the auditions at lunch on Tues, Jan 19th.
Finally, the school will be closed for students on Mon, Jan 18th for a Pro-D Day.
