Headlong Into June

Last week, we hosted the Howe Sound Secondary and Don Ross bands at Valleycliffe It’s always a pleasure to watch the older students from our district perform. Thank you to Mrs. Booth and Mrs. Wallace for the special concert.

During Ready Set Learn, it was our pleasure to meet and greet our future Kindergarteners and their families. We look forward to getting to know them better in the fall.

This week, we were treated to a Ballet Victoria performance.   Our students were not only entertained but were introduced to different styles of dance including modern and jazz.

On Wed morning, some of our leadership students and HSSS students tried to Skype with the students from Inoro Secondary School in Nanyuki, Kenya. And we succeeded! The topics of discussion are: food resources, women’s rights, employment choices, hobbies and life style. We learned a lot from our discussion together.

This month, the Mountain Biking Club has started. Thank you to Mrs. Roberts, Mrs. Zoo & Mrs. Lock for sponsoring.

Yesterday, VCE hosted the Multicultural Day. It was wonderful to see students and staff dressed in cultural regalia. The potluck lunch was delicious. Thank you to all who contributed to the potluck – we appreciate your generosity. Thank you to the parents and staff who demonstrated games and activities from their culture: Mr. Zander, Mrs. Siebel-Palethorpe, Mrs. McCutcheon, Mrs. Mitchell, Mrs. Williams, Mrs. Vriend, Kirandeep Dhaliwal, Naiomi Lu. We had fun learning.

We thank the PAC who will be hosting the staff and volunteer appreciation lunch on June 6th. As well, on the same day, the school will be hosting the Balding for Dollars with Mrs. Platz getting a buzz cut. Mrs. Platz and her Kindhearted Kindergarteners are very close to reaching their goal.
