Falling Leaves, Falling Back

It has been a busy fall for staff and students for teaching and learning.

As mentioned earlier, this year, we are re-examining our School Goals.  The staff has collaborated and agreed to examine Critical Thinking as our focus this year.  Our Theories of Action are:

If children are given opportunities to develop their questioning skills, then they will be able to think more critically.

If children are given opportunities to integrate growth mindset skills, then they will be able to think more critically.

The staff has spent the collaboration afternoons planning for our learning and teaching regarding the two school goals.  The next collaboration is on Nov 9th.  The students will be dismissed at noon.

We will be asking for input and feedback from the students and parents next week to complement the school goals.

As you are aware, we are continuing to implementing the new curriculum from Ministry of Education.  If you would like to take a look at the new curriculum, please go to https://curriculum.gov.bc.ca/. Tomorrow, the teachers and administrators are meeting together to discuss the implementation of the new curriculum.

Thank you to everyone for the donations to We Scare Hunger for the Squamish Food Bank.

The Remembrance Day assembly will be held on Nov 10th at 11 am.  Families are welcome to join us.

Lastly, VCE will be hosting the District staff and the School Trustees on Nov 15th for the School Improvement Plan presentation.

Thank you for your continued support.   We hope that your children find VCE a safe, happy and fun place for learning.
