Weekly Update – November 29, 2019

Dear Families,

We have a lot on the go at this time of year, please review upcoming events and ways to get involved.

Winter Concert Details

Next week we will be having our drummer in residence working with our students to prepare for our Winter Concert on Dec 6th at 6:30pm (if you can’t make the evening show, please join us for the dress rehearsal at 1:30pm the same day). Students should be here at 6pm and go to their classrooms.

The PAC is looking for a few volunteers to run a bake sale table at the Winter Concert on Friday Dec 6. A team of 2+ people would be great. The sale would be in the library from about 6-6:30 and then about a half-hour afterwards. Items by donation so no making change is required. Some time to set up beforehand & clean up afterwards is needed. If you are interested in running this successful and easy fundraiser or have questions about it, please contact Jen Kelly and/or Jen Bayley at jennifermajakelly@gmail.com and jmbayley@me.com

Please bring all baking donations to the office on the Dec 6th (please clearly label your containers so we can return them –class teacher listed is helpful).

Community Care

Community Christmas Care has been running for 39 years in Squamish, Community Christmas Care has been helping out less fortunate families through the holiday season. This year Valleycliffe Elementary School will once again be collecting non-perishable food items, including canned goods, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, cereals, candy and other special treats; as well as new, unwrapped toys. Please bring your donations to the classrooms between Dec 2-12th, we will also have a collection table set up the day of the concert on the 6th. Last year, Community Christmas Care was able to assemble and distribute 292 hampers to families in need! To find out more about the project, here is their website: https://communitychristmascare.com/ . Thank you in advance for any contribution.

Online Holiday Auction

The online Holiday Auction is still live on Facebook and accepting bids on the many amazing products & services generously donated by our community partners. Hurry though- the auction closes at 9 pm sharp on Sunday December 1st. Rules are posted on the page https://www.facebook.com/groups/132400507473504/. There will be a table set up on the day and eve of the Winter Concert, Dec 6th for you to pick up your items. Please make arrangements to collect your items from the school.

Writing Day

Come join us on Writing Day on Dec 13th at 1:30pm. We encourage family members to join us to support our students writing cards and letters for others. More info to come next week.

Little Shop of Wonders

This year the Little Shop of Wonders will be on Monday, Dec 16th. This is an opportunity for students to shop for their families for the holiday season. Students LOVE this event! We need your help collecting donations of re-gifted/reusable and in good condition items (not new items) for our shop. Items can be dropped off at the office starting December 9th to December 13th.
